How I started
My parents have always had their own businesses and I just knew from a young age I wanted to have my own. In the beginning, I was still determining what type of business. I was towing with the idea of resin jewellery or maybe down the beauty route like becoming a self-employed makeup artist or nail tech but I knew they weren't things I had a genuine interest in and upon reflection I realised that I loved my job in retail, I loved the customer service aspect and especially loved when I left was in charge of merchandising so I thought how cool it would be if I had my own clothing store (... still dreaming of a physical shop).
I was a student with very little remaining in my overdraft (Nothing has changed lol) when I decided to look into wholesalers and I was so excited to get started that I did everything too fast. I go into my list of regrets here Mistakes and Secret In short, I jumped the gun without planning ahead.
Originally ByAthena was named Influenced Fashion because my initial idea was to have a storefront that sold some of my own things but I also wanted to with influencers throughout the country that had their own brands and be distributer I thought this was a great way to drive and diverse traffic coming to my website but I quickly realised with my lack of funds this wouldn't work however I still could have exciting brands coming to ByAthena ;)
